Confidence

"No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." Matthew 6:24

This week, Solomon's Porch welcomed guest speaker Pastor Bob Oh. He taught that the normal English translation of Matthew 6:24 is not complete. The idea of money is actually "mammon"--or that in which you put your confidence. Of course, in the modern context, many people put their confidence in money, but it could also be career, looks, reputation, etc.

If we cannot serve both God and mammon, then we are only left with one choice--to put our confidence in God. When we do, amazing things will happen. Pastor Oh shared of how, despite his lack of self-confidence, through confidence in God, he saw many sign and wonders done in his life ministry from LA to Cambodia to Oxford. Let's be a church that strives to live out our faith in full confidence in God, waiting in eager anticipation to see what amazing things He will do!
